Abstract

Over the past two decades, digital determinants of health have become critical factors in healthcare. Digital health literacy is one of the key determinants that shape patient outcomes. Recently, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced a further evolution of digital literacy, conceptualized as AI literacy. This project has two goals: first, to assess the digital health literacy and AI literacy levels of Penn Medicine patients; and second, to determine the relationship between digital health literacy and AI literacy. We find that AI literacy is a distinct set of knowledge and skills from digital literacy. Furthermore, we find that education and income levels may be correlated with AI literacy levels.
