Abstract

The science on mindfulness is vast and growing—yet in many leadership settings, it’s still dismissed as a wellness perk or a practice for specific individuals. Meanwhile, burnout among leaders continues to rise, fueled by constant pressure and blurred boundaries. This paper takes a different view. Grounded in both research and personal experience, it explores how mindfulness, through the lens of positive psychology, enhances leadership capacities such as emotional regulation, psychological capital, and character strengths. Rather than replacing tools, mindfulness can enhance the inner resources leaders need to stay steady, self-aware, and effective, especially under pressure. Drawing on recent studies (2020-2025), this review reframes mindfulness not as a trend but as a practical, science-informed resource for sustainable leadership.
