Abstract
The present study is concerned with the text, origin, and relation to Hebrew and Akkadian Wisdom Literature of the oldest extant version of the story and teaching of Ahiqar, a learned official of the Assyrian court who, through the machinations of his foster son, nearly lost his life, but in the end recovered his former glories.
