Abstract
Modern migration literature in Italy has often been studied very broadly, resulting in a homogenization of writers and texts. The present research narrows this focus to specifically study women of South Asian heritage who write in the Italian language. Writers and texts are evaluated in three categories: first-generation migration writers, women of the second-generation or G2, and finally the nomadic artist. Each category is explored and contextualized in relation to other writers of South Asian heritage, with in-depth textual analysis that discerns the individual voice of each woman. The research concludes that within the highly diverse canon of South Asian women writing in Italian some common threads may be found, including the implementation of humor, thematic use of food, and broad concerns involving gender and identity.
