Introduction
Hannah Bennett is the Head of the Fisher Fine Arts Library as well as acting Head of the University of Pennsylvania Archaeology & Anthropology Museum Library. Prior to Penn, Hannah served as Head of the School of Architecture Library at Princeton University, Assistant Director for Collections and Research at the Haas Family Arts Library, Yale University, and as a research librarian in the Ryerson & Burnham Libraries in the Art Institute of Chicago. Special collections have always been a significant component to Hannah’s career and at Penn, she looks forward to enhancing the Holmes Perkins Rare Book Collection by including modern and contemporary collections alongside Perkins’ formidable Vitruvian folios and other monuments of historic, architectural publishing. Hannah is also interested in how technologies shape or inform arts disciplines which led to her establishing the Art Libraries Society of North America’s Multimedia & Technology Reviews. Hannah’s personal research includes the study of Lindsay Anderson’s 1967 film, “The White Bus”, a manifesto demanding that the city of Manchester be seen as an iconic, poetic urban landscape. She is also interested in neuroscience research and the built environment, a fairly new interdisciplinary field and one in which both camps, in their respective pursuits, have worked to understand the relationship between design choices, human behavior, and biological processes. Hannah earned her masters degrees at the University of Illinois and the University of York and her bachelor’s from the University of the South.
