Abstract
Joseph Hacohen, the important Jewish chronicler of the sixteenth century, was born in Avignon on December 20,1 1496.
The frequent allusions to his private affairs, scattered throughout Joseph Hacohen's works, and the mass of highly interesting personal details available to us solely in his collected letters,2 make it possible to bring together the known facts of his life and that of his family
