    The Third Annual China Global Think Tank Innovation Forum was held on June 17, 2018 in Beijing, China. It comes at a critical juncture in global politics and economies. The fragile global economy has proven robust enough to navigate shocks that defined the year 2017, from waves of populist politics to worldwide protectionist tendencies. However, the world still faces looming dangers, such as ticking debt bombs, intensifying geopolitical competition, and the precarious position of industrial workers due to rapid technological advancements and the development of global value chains.

The states under political regime changes have proven robust enough to navigate upsets that defined the year 2016, from Brexit to the impeachment of Brazil’s and South Korea’s presidents. However, the world still faces looming dangers, such as worsening geopolitical competition, weakening economic liberalism and the growing disparities between the winners and losers of globalization.

    2020 India Think Tank Forum

    The Fourth Annual India Think Tank Forum (ITFF) took place in New Delhi, India from January 12 to 13, 2020. The forum was co-hosted by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the University of Pennsylvania and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). It brought together think tank scholars and executives from over 50 think tank institutions from South Asia including India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Maldives, as well as institutions from France, Poland, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. This Forum was conducted in a Roundtable Format with panels that were intended to frame the key issues and provide constructively provocative questions to stimulate the discussion that follows each Session. The Forum was conducted in accordance with the Chatham House Rule.

    2015 First Annual US-India Think Tank Summit

    Since 2013, the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program of the University of Pennsylvania (TTCSP) has been organizing a series of regional and global “Think Tank Summits”, bringing together professionals of top-ranked think tanks to connect as a trade association for networking, reflection and discussions on the pressing issues of the day. Over nine summits have been held so far, including regional convocations for Asia, Africa, Europe, Middle East, Latin America and North America, the G20 countries. The First Annual US India Think Tank Summit brought together over seventy think tanks from India and the United States of America to discuss how best to create a sustainable future for Indian think tanks.

    2019 India Think Tank Forum

    Observer Research Foundation, in collaboration with Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP), Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania, organized the third India Think Tank Forum on 7 January 2019, at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi. The forum brought together a diverse representation both of regional, national and international think tanks, for an informative and productive exchange on key policy issues. The role of think tanks in civil society and the challenges faced by them, formed a key part of the conversations that took place at the conference. Some of the broad themes in discussion were ‘India and the World’, ‘Economy and Growth in India through a Gendered Lens’, ‘Strategies and Operations Challenges faced by Think Tanks’, ‘Think Tanks and SDGs’, ‘Think Tanks in the Digital Era’, among others.
