PennImmersive Papers

PennImmersive is a Penn Libraries’ initiative that launched in concert with Penn’s Year of Innovation in 2017 to engage the campus in a year-long, public research project to explore the potential of virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3D modeling in teaching, research, and learning. The purpose is to critically examine immersive technologies in academe while forming new connections across the Penn community.

    In the 2017-18 academic year, the Penn Libraries launched PennImmersive a community-led research project to explore the potential applications of virtual reality (VR); augmented reality (AR); and 3D modeling, scanning, and printing in teaching, research, and learning. The Libraries role was twofold: to provide campus-wide access to immersive technologies, and to convene the community. This report provides an overview of the PennImmersive project during 2017-2018.
