Abstract
Abridgment of Mélanges tirés d'une grande bibliothèque, volume 1, Bibliotheque historique a l'usage des dames, contenant un catalogue raisonné de tous les livres necessaires pour faire un cours complet d'histoire en langue françoise (1779), in which the bibliographical information from the source text is presented as a list divided into categories. The listed books concern history from the ancient world (in French translations) through the reign of Louis XV. At the end of the manuscript are stubs of two leaves with text (p. 25-28), included in the modern pagination); some additional historical notes (p. 29-31); a passage copied from Mélanges tirés d'une grande bibliothèque (p. 33-34); and a small bifolium of black-bordered (possibly mourning) paper, missing the upper part of the second leaf, with scientific and mathematical notes, mounted on the last leaf (p. 33). Sewn into two gatherings, with the final leaf of the first gathering (p.17-18) now detached.
