Description

Philadelphia Signs Project video with participant discussing how diverse signing was when she was young.

Comments

"Yes, it was different. I would look up at them and…[she names a Philadelphia acquaintance's husband], he was from Gallaudet. He would come back for football games from Gallaudet [imitates his air of superiority] and he would fingerspell everything as if he was so advanced. I couldn’t read the signs. Some of the communication I couldn’t catch because I was little and couldn’t read the signs. Now, now that we are adults, we all sign the same."
