Abstract

Romantic relationships are an integral and indispensable part of our everyday lives. Life’s great joy comes from a flourishing intimate relationship. On the contrary, a wilting intimate relationship could negatively impact our health and well-being. The steady upward rise in the divorce rate, population of single people, and number of single-parent families leads to many adverse outcomes for men, women, and children. The deep-rooted philosophical and religious concept of acceptance and the much praised human virtues of compassion and wisdom are gaining momentum as scientific methods to facilitate optimal human functioning and enhance psychological well-being. Compassion, wisdom, and acceptance as positive interventions could help improve couple relationship and mitigate the ever-increasing divorce rate and negative changes in individual and family dynamics.
