The Triumph of Monumentality in the Treatises

Abstract

The illustrations of the ideal city in the fifteenth- and sixteenth-century architectural manuscripts and treatises illuminate the values associated with the birth of the humanist city and clarify the role of representation in the revival and triumph of monumentality.
